Today, I will introduce to you an important criterion for choosing the right electrical panel for your project. Surely you know that all electrical panel manufacturers in Vietnam know the IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 standards, but in fact, very few electrical panel manufacturers understand this set of standards. So what is this set of standards?
Today, I will introduce to you an important criterion for choosing the right electrical panel for your project. Surely you know that all electrical panel manufacturers in Vietnam know the IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 standards, but in fact, very few electrical panel manufacturers understand this set of standards. So what is this set of standards?
Overview of IEC 61439
IEC 61439 is an international electrical technical standard (IEC international standardization) of the International Electrotechnical Commission. Officially announced for application in January 2009, it is a standard applied to the electrical panel manufacturing industry worldwide. This standard replaces the IEC 60439 standard.
The IEC 61439 standard series provides for:
Durability of materials and equipment components such as: corrosion resistance, insulation properties, thermal stability, resistance of insulation materials at normal temperature, resistance of insulation materials under abnormal conditions and when burning due to internal effects of the equipment, resistance to ultraviolet rays, mechanical impact, lifting, manufacturing….
Summary of the main changes of IEC 61439
IEC 60439 |
IEC 61439 |
IEC 60439-1 Type-tested and partially type-tested assemblies |
IEC 61439-2 Design verified AssEMBLIEs |
Mix of different rules and demands in each part |
Clear structure: IEC 61439-1 “General rules“ IEC 61439-2 … -6 “subsidiary parts” (product standard) |
Each part is a complete entity and can be used on an individual basis |
Each “subsidiary part” is based on the “general rules” (Part 1) and includes only the specific additional rules for the specific product |
Testing each type of AssEMBLY: Partially type-tested or type-tested |
Three alternative methods for verification: Test, calculation/measurement, design rules |
Annex E: Agreements between Customer and Manufacturer |
Annex C: Agreements between Customer and Manufacturer are more detailed and extended |
|
Shared responsibility: Original Manufacturer vs. AssEMBLY Manufacturer |
|
Technical changes and clarifications: Diversity factor, verification of temperature rise, mechanical characteristics, neutral conductor 50%, additional verification (from IEC 62208) |
Only the manufacturers of electrical cabinets understand how this set of standards is specified and how much it can be applied to their products. Therefore, when choosing to buy electrical cabinets, you need to be careful and clearly understand how the manufacturer has applied and implemented this set of IEC 61439 standards to the product.
