FUNCTION OF DISTRIBUTION PANELS DB, MDB, CAPACITOR PANELS

​​​​​Function of distribution board (DB) Branch distribution cabinets are used in low voltage power networks. Widely used and popular in industrial works, commercial centers, office buildings, apartments, hospitals, schools... and power companies with compact design and simple structure.

Branch distribution board are used in low voltage power networks. Widely used and popular in industrial works, commercial centers, office buildings, apartments, hospitals, schools ... and power companies with compact design and simple structure.

Types of low voltage distribution cabinets are completely changed to suit their intended use. Therefore, its design and construction must comply with the electrical instructions at its workplace. Low voltage distribution cabinets provide 2 main functions:

  • Protect equipment such as: switches, measuring instruments, relays, and fuse panels, from mechanical impacts, due to fluctuations, and other external influences that can affect the integrity of operations (such as EMI, dust, humidity, insects, ...)
  • Protect human life, avoid direct or indirect electric shock.

   Operating function of MDB

  • Distribute power to other types of electrical panels in each area
  • Supply power directly to the load, the cabinet usually takes power from the output of the main distribution cabinet.

The protection function of the distribution cabinet is adjusted to be one level higher than the main distribution cabinet to ensure safety for the area without affecting other areas.

      Function of capacitor bank 

  • Capacitor panels are used to compensate for power loss on the line during transmission, used in low-voltage power networks, installed in technical rooms of floors, technical rooms of equipment and in transformer station areas... Capacitor panels are used to improve the power factor by using capacitor banks as a source of reactive power, saving costs, improving the power quality of the load.

  • Reactive power compensation helps reduce fines

  • In particular, the panel uses an advanced compensation method - automatic compensation with automatic control equipment divided into many levels, the compensation panel will automatically compare the phase difference between voltage and current with the set value (usually 0.85 - 0.95) to identify the amount of power that needs to be compensated to send a signal to automatically turn on and off the compensation capacitor until the required value is reached and keep the power factor around the set value.
